Kota is a gem, barely explored, it has escaped the hoards of tourists and yet it has some fabulous treasures that shouldn’t be missed. The city palace is extraordinary with a well curated museum, friendly staff and beautiful miniature paintings. It is also located on the banks of the Chambal River and an evening boatride, into the sunset is a spectacular experience. The sunset is nothing short of stunning and the crocodiles and birdlife is amazing. If that wasn’t enough, the city is also known for gold jewellery, Doria weave producing beautiful sarees and the famous Kota stone. We thoroughly recommend a stay for a couple of nights to explore all that this ancient and historic town has to offer.
