The sun rises over the small Gokul Fort, on the opposite side of the lake, and streams through palm trees onto the swimming pool and that is how a day at Devshree starts. This is a wonderful addition to the Rajasthani luxury homestay collection, and being a new build, but in traditional architectural style, many of the hiccups of a heritage conversion have been ironed out. Spacious and comfortable rooms surround a central courtyard and the dining area and large verandah overlook the lawn which stretches down to the water and infuses a sense of calm. This is a place to relax and regroup, chat to your charming and fun hosts to discover a bit about life in Regal Rajasthan and venture out into the surrounding village to get a sense of rural Rajasthan.
The food is great, we recommend their lunch at the farm and then in the evening, enjoy walks at sundown and sit around the campfire chatting about your day and Rajasthan with one of its royal families. A fun excursion is also the narrow gauge rural train ride, one of our favourite experiences in the region!
