Palampur
P
The picturesque unspoilt town of Palampur, at a height of 1,219m, is nestled amidst the snow-capped peaks of the Dhauladhar Range of the Himalayas, flanked by terraced paddy fields, picturesque tea estates, lush tree plantations and forests of pine and deodar. Countless brooks, waterfalls and streams that crisscross the landscape, surround Palampur, ensuring that it lives up to its name which means ‘plentiful water’. In addition to the natural beauty of the area, there are also a number of temples and forts well worth exploring including the Baijnath Shiva Temple and the Kangra Fort. If time allows, visit the Church of St Johns, Chamunda Devi, Dhauladhar National Park and of course, the tea gardens.
